We are looking for a talented HRVN to lead our amazing nursing team.
Your role and responsibilities
The Head Clinical Nurse will be responsible for managing the nursing team, ensuring practice protocols are followed, and quality nursing care for our surgical, ambulatory, and in-patients is delivered.
The role would be ideally suited to a head nurse who wants to lead a new or smaller team in an independent practice, or a senior RVN who wants to take on more responsibilities.
The ideal candidate
Should have previous experience in leading a team. Technical, organisational, and communicative skills necessary to lead a nursing team are essential.
Is RCVS registered and ideally has gained further nursing qualifications, enabling them to teach and help develop those skills in their team members.
Should enjoy developing processes and organisational structures that lead to better patient care and more effective running of the practice.
The ideal candidate would be committed and hard-working. They have the tact and empathy necessary to inspire members of the team to improve and to help them grow in their roles. They will help nurture a genuinely caring setting for our patients, our staff, and the wider environment.
Key responsibilities
Leading and directing the nursing team of RVNs, SVNs and ACAs in delivering an outstanding quality of care of surgical, ambulatory, and in-patients
Ensuring practice policies set by management are implemented through actively monitoring and documenting individual staff performances and providing supportive guidance towards improvement where necessary,
Identify where nursing care can be improved and provide training,
Making sure nursing staff apply themselves to their tasks,
Organising and chairing regular meetings of the nursing team,
Appraising nursing staff, giving improvement instructions where necessary,
Assisting management with clinical audits,
Liaising with the Directors, to discuss the performance of the nursing team and help develop practice protocols,
Maintaining and demonstrating knowledge of the RCVS Day One Skills and Competencies, and Code of Professional Conduct for Veterinary Nurses.
Hours
Monday to Friday between 7.30 am and 7 pm and 1 in 3 Saturdays between 8.30 am-1.30 pm, averaging at 40 hours per week.
OOH (Additional pay) 1:4
Benefits
Salary range of £35,000 – £40,000 depending on experience and qualifications.
6 weeks holiday per year.
